Next month’s People’s Company 10th annual Land Investment Expo in West Des Moines will feature actor and comedian Ben Stein and Americans for Tax Reform President, Grover Norquist. Host of the Emmy Award winning game show, “Win Ben Stein’s Money,” Stein is most well-known for his role as the repetitive economics instructor in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” which has been voted one of the 50 funniest scenes in American film history. In addition to acting, Stein has had a lucrative career as a teacher, economist, commentator, columnist and author. Norquist, a nationally-recognized tax expert, will bring his signature wisdom and wit to the expo as he discusses the true cost of government and what tax reform might look like in the Trump era. Also speaking at the annual meeting will be Steve Elsman, the outspoken hedge fund manager whose story was chronicled in the Michael Lewis book, “The Big Short,” and again later when he was portrayed by Steve Carrell as “Mark Baum” in the acclaimed movie of the same name.
