Parents and guardians are reminded that the filing deadline for open enrollment in the 2017-2018 school year is approaching. Applications must be submitted to the resident and receiving districts no later than March 1. For children entering school for the first time as a kindergarten student, the deadline is Sept. 1. Students in grades nine through 12 who open enroll are not eligible to participate in varsity competitions or contests for the first 90 school days. Parents are also responsible for transporting children who open enroll to another district. This includes all students, even those with IEP. If a child open enrolls to a bordering district and the parents’ income meets economic eligibility requirements, the family may receive a transportation stipend or be provided transportation by the district.
