On Jan. 20, the Lake View Police Department arrested 23-year-old Shawn Patrick Zak of Lake City for a number of outstanding warrants. Zak was seen by an officer and began to flee on foot. A K9 unit from the Sac County Sheriff’s Office was called in to track Zak. After a search, he was located and taken into custody at 650 North State Road in Lake View. Zak had warrants for his arrest in Calhoun County for failure to appear on charges of failure to report an accident, 5th degree burglary, a simple misdemeanor, 3rd degree burglary and operation of a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, both aggravated misdemeanors, and assault on a peace officer and interference with official acts, both class D felonies. The Sac County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol assisted in the arrest.
