Jefferson Matters: Main Street Puts Out Call For Second Annual Sculpture Competition

The Jefferson Matters: Main Street’s Tower View Team and Home State Bank are putting out a call to all professional and amateur sculptors to participate in the second annual Ring Out for Art sculpture competition. In deference to the Mahaney Bell Tower, the artists are required to incorporate some element of a bell within their piece, however, the bell can be hidden and need not stand out or ring. Interested sculptors may submit up to five original pieces with a $25 entry fee. A selection committee of visual artists and local business and community leaders will critique the entries on artistic merit, creativity, public safety and durability in an outdoor environment, choosing six finalists. These six entries will be displayed for public voting during the Bell Tower Festival on June 9 and 10. First place receives a $2,000 award, while second place will get $1,000 and third will receive $500. All top three finishers will remain at the Bell Tower Plaza until May 1, 2018. Deadline for entries is March 10. More information on the application rules and contact points can be found below.
