In just a little over one week, the Carroll community will have a voice in the future of the Carroll Stadium. Both local school districts, Carroll Community and Kuemper Catholic, utilize the complex, which Kuemper President, John Steffes, says is an ideal situation for such a valuable resource.
Steffes said there is definitely no plan to move away from that 50-year long arrangement.
He said he cannot stress enough that this renovation is in Kuemper’s best interest. Kuemper has not officially allotted any funds to the cost of the renovation, and Steffes said that there is a specific group that would address the issue if any donations were made in the future.
He said this project aligns with the mission of their booster club. These proposed changes, Steffes added, will make this much more than a football field.
Residents of the Carroll Community School District are eligible to vote on the nearly $4.5 million tax referendum for the completion of an estimated $6.2 million renovation of the Carroll Stadium on Grant Road. Absentee voting is open and can be done until 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Carroll County Courthouse. Polling locations in Carroll, Halbur, Dedham, Breda and Lidderdale will be open from noon to 8 p.m. on Feb. 7. A listing of the locations and a map of the Carroll Community School District can be found on the Carroll County Auditor’s website page.
