Students from Carroll and Ar-We-Va high schools heard an uplifting message about kindness and self-confidence Monday morning from an interesting source. Joshua Coburn, a Brooklyn, IA native, has been an inspirational speaker since 2004, and he shared his story about his difficulties growing up and being at ease with his appearance.
Coburn has many tattoos, sub-dermal silicone implants on the back of his hands and large gauges in his earlobes. He told the students that he had received negative comments about his appearance and wanted them to know that everybody has faced negativity and hardship.
His message spreads the belief that kindness to others leads to happiness for yourself. Coburn has appeared on MTV, VH1 and Fox News to share his message and now travels across the country speaking at schools and universities.
