Smith Comes Home For Career With Carroll County Sheriff’s Office

As the newest deputy for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Corey Smith also has the dubious distinction of being the youngest member of the force as well, having graduated from Hawkeye Community College last December. Smith is returning to Glidden, where he graduated from high school in 2013. He said he is excited about the opportunity to start off his career back in Carroll County.

It is a continued interest in building on relationships, old and new, and variety that drew Smith into a law enforcement career near his home turf.

Smith’s first day was Wednesday, Feb. 1, and he spent that day riding along with one of the deputies. He will continue with his day-to-day training and then enter into the Law Enforcement Academy’s training program in either May or August. He says one of the biggest attributes he brings with him into his new career is his ability to communicate and the fact that he is a people person.

Smith has been hired to fill a vacancy with the Sheriff’s Office that occurred with the resignation of Deputy Ken Myers last month.
