Just One Day After Challenge, Crawford County Dive Team Gets $10,000 Donation

On Sunday morning, Crawford County Sheriff, Jim Steinkuehler, challenged the entire county and surrounding communities to consider supporting their search and rescue team. After the recent tragic death of 15-year-old Yoana Acosta, who died after the car she was in crashed into the Boyer River north of Denison on Jan. 19, emergency responders and law enforcement authorities are looking at ways they can support future search and lifesaving efforts. After only one day, Sheriff Steinkuhler announced the receipt of a $10,000 donation from Wesco Industries of Denison. He said the money will be used to benefit the Crawford County Search and Rescue Dive team and be put toward the purchase of a boat, motor and sonar. “I was caught speechless by the amount raised by such a great bunch of supporters from our Community, and the hard work done by the staff and clients at Wesco Industries,” Steinkuhler wrote. The money was raised during a Denison soup supper fundraiser held last Thursday, Feb. 2.
