After Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch, made disapproving remarks about President Donald Trump’s comments on a federal appeals court deliberating his travel ban, Senator Chuck Grassley says it is a good indication Gorsuch is the right nominee. Gorsuch allegedly called Trumps statements “disheartening and demoralizing” while speaking with Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal, of Connecticut, and Grassley says that comment should reassure Democrats opposing his nomination.
He cited past incidents where the Supreme Court ruled against the president.
Grassley says this is why Supreme Court Justices’ terms last longer than any president.
Trump nominated Gorsuch to fill the vacant seat on the Supreme Court on Jan. 31. The seat has been empty since the death of Justice Antonin Scalia in February 2016.
