Another Storm Lake Middle School Student Arrested For Threats Of Terrorism

In the span of just 10 days, the Storm Lake Police Department has been called to the Storm Lake Middle School, and has charged two juveniles with threats of terrorism. At approximately 3:10 p.m. on Thursday, the department responded to a report from a school staff member who said an 11-year-old student had made threats to blow up the school. An investigation led to the class D felony charges against the student, who was processed and released to the custody of a parent pending a court date. On Tuesday, Feb. 7, authorities were notified that a 13-year-old student at the same school had been researching a site that had illegal weapons for sale and was sharing what he learned with other students. It was reported he said he was going to purchase a gun and “shoot up the school.” That student was also arrested and then released to the custody of a parent. The authorities did not believe there was imminent danger to anyone in either of these cases, which have been turned over to the Juvenile Courts.
