Catholic Cemetery In Wall Lake May Expand For First Time In Decades

The Catholic portion of the Wall Lake Cemetery could see its first expansion in decades based on discussions taking place during the Wall Lake City Council meeting issue next week. The City of Wall Lake owns the cemetery, and City Clerk, Chris Rodman, says the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church has worked with the same number of plots since passing on ownership.

The cemetery has the possibility to expand, and the council will consider transferring ownership of some potential new plots to the church.

Rodman says the city is contacted about the limited space in the Catholic Cemetery on a regular basis.

Before this can happen, both the Wall Lake City Council and the St. Joseph’s Board of Directors must approve the transfer. The city council meets Monday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. in city hall.
