A Davenport man was taken into custody yesterday (Thursday) by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office in Bagley after a high-speed chase along state Highway 141. Dallas County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Ryan Bowers told the media that 23-year-old Marques Tyreek Cooke fled after an attempted traffic stop at approximately 1 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 169 and Highway 141 in Perry. Cooke led authorities westbound on 141, reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour. The Perry Police Department and Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office joined in the chase and Guthrie County authorities were able to disable Cooke’s vehicle by implementing stop sticks. Cooke left the vehicle and fled on foot, but was apprehended a short time later. Cooke was booked into the Dallas County Jail and charged with driving while license denied, suspended, cancelled or revoked, failure to maintain control, reckless driving, eluding and speeding. He is being held on a $5,000 cash bond.
