A semi driver is fortunate to walk away unhurt after his truck was blown off the road west of Carroll. At approximately 10:30 a.m., an empty, 2005 International semi-truck, driven by 35-year-old Harun Ibrahim Ahmed, of Minneapolis, Minn., was traveling westbound on Highway 30 just before the overpass near Kittyhawk Avenue when north winds, gusting as high as 40 miles per hour, pushed the trailer south. The trucker attempted to correct and jackknifed into the north shoulder. The trailer’s landing gear dug into the ground and prevented the truck from tipping down the ditch. Three of the four lanes were closed for about an hour as a result. Damage to the trailer is considered to be minor, and the truck was driven away. Two other tractor-trailers were blown off the road this morning, one near the intersection of Highway 71 and 280th street and the other near 235th Street. No injuries were reported in any of those incidents.
