After almost two years of construction, Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) will be hosting an open house this Sunday (Feb. 26) to feature their newly finished Student Center and Trail Point Aquatics and Wellness Center on the Ankeny campus. The 180,000 square-foot building that connects Buildings 4 and 5 houses a food court, book store, student activity space, a theater and more classrooms and study areas. The new wellness center is on the other side of the facility and has two basketball courts and two swimming pools, a state-of-the-art fitness and physical therapy center and racquetball courts. Trail Point Aquatics and Wellness is a community recreation center and is open to membership for area residents and will also be used by the Ankeny School District swim teams. Students paying for six or more credits can use the facility at no charge. The public is welcome to attend the open house from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
