Iowa Corn Grower Association Leader Travel To Commodity Classic To Promote Iowan Concerns

Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB) leaders traveled to San Antonio last week to take part in the 2017 Commodity Classic. The ICGA’s main purpose in attending the event is to debate and encourage policies that benefit Iowa’s farmers. The topics at the top of their list included expanding trade agreements, keeping U.S. Department of Agriculture export programs, defending the Renewable Fuel Standard and protecting federal crop insurance funding. The delegation passed a number of resolutions such as, supporting environmentally friendly, low carbon renewable fuels, ensuring farmer access to information and tools necessary to keep their equipment operational and allowing for more aggressive noxious weed control within Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) land. “Last week Iowa farmers brought their concerns and policy position that matter back home in Iowa to the national platform,” said ICGA President, Kurt Hora, “these policy positions set the framework for our federal legislative efforts and directly influence our direction for years to come.” The newly drafted National Corn Grower Association Policy will be available soon and can be found by following the link included below this story on our website when it becomes public.
