KHS Golf Coach Inducted Into IHSGCA Hall Of Fame

A local golf legend has been inducted into the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association (IHSGCA) Hall of Fame in the first year he was eligible to be selected for the honor. Larry Clark coached golf at Kuemper Catholic High School (KHS) for 23 years before retiring in 2012 and led the Knights to eleven of 19 Hawkeye 10 Conference titles. Clark managed to take KHS to state 13 times, placing first in 1995, 2009, 2010, and 2011, runner-up in 1998, 2001 and 2012, and third place in 1999 and 2008. He was selected as Coach of the year in 2009 by the Iowa High School Athletic Association. Clark has been married for 55 years to his wife, Sharon, and have four children, 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Over 650 student-athletes were coached by Clark over the years. He always told his athletes the key to golf is to stay calm and “just keep grinding.” He says he has slowed down over the years but still manages to hit the links at least once per week during the summer.
