The Carroll County Treasurer’s Office employees have been working diligently on training to be able to take over the issuance of driver’s licenses in the county after the Iowa Department of Transportation announced the closure of the state-run Carroll location effective last Sept. 1. Treasurer, Jean Seidl, has said they are very close to being ready to take over, but the issue needs legislative approval and has not yet been discussed during the current Senate session. Carroll County Supervisor, Gene Meiners, asked Iowa Senator Mark Segebart about why it has stalled in the Senate and for an update on the status of this approval at the most recent legislative forum

Meiners said it just seems like the more controversial bills have been run through relatively quickly while something that seems so simple gets delayed. Segebart reassured Meiners that he believes it will be moving through the Senate yet this week.
