Glidden Makes Preparations To Choose New Lagoon Location

The City of Glidden continues to move forward with preparations for their wastewater system overhaul by securing a company to test locations for the placement of a new lagoon. City Clerk, Suzy Danner, says making sure potential sites are suitable for the structures is a crucial step in the process.

The company chosen, Certified Testing Services, Inc., of Storm Lake, performs evaluations of a site’s subsurface to determine if it is suitable to support a lagoon system. Danner says they only have a small window to get the tests done after consulting with the project’s engineer.

The city has not yet decided where the lagoon will be placed and will be testing locations to determine which sites are acceptable. The project is estimated to cost $3.5 million. The new system should be operational by mid-2020.
