Internships are a great way to try out a career before devoting several years at a university to prepare. Wetrich says the ranger internship allows for people interested in that field to see their day-to-day work.

The naturalist, on the other hand, is more suited to those interested in flora and fauna.

He says the only real requirements are to be at least 18 years old and having a valid driver’s license. The most important thing for any applicant to have is good people skills. Wetrich says they provide outdoor opportunities for the public, and this can open the door to a future career.

The jobs last from May until August, and applications can be picked up from the Education Building in Swan Lake.
