Nearly $10,000 Raised For Brushy Creek Honor Flights At Dedham Legion Dinner

The Dedham American Legion was host to the latest fundraiser for the Brushy Creek Honor Flights last Sunday, March 26. Commander of the Breda Post #607, Bob Fasbender, said people from all over the area, including Brushy Creek Honor Flight organizer, Charlie Walker of Fort Dodge, attended the event, and they are very happy with the phenomenal show of support for our veterans.

However, the $6,800 raised from the dinner and raffles was not the only source of donations.

Fasbender said the amount raised this year is roughly what it takes every year to support the veterans in our region.

The American Legion will be holding the fundraiser again next year and it will be hosted by the Glidden Merle Hay American Legion Post #386. Donations can be made anytime throughout the year to the Carroll Veterans Affairs Office. They can either be dropped off or mailed to the address included with this story on our website. The next honor flight will depart from the Fort Dodge airport on May 6, and another is scheduled for Sept. 16.
