New Way Ford in Coon Rapids is hosting a weather related event this weekend to encourage understanding of the risks Iowa’s summer storms hold. Severe Weather Saturday takes place tomorrow (Saturday) at the dealership on Highway 141. Long-time meteorologist, John McLaughlin, and storm chasers, Ben McMillan and Nathan Moore, will be on site to share their encounters with tornadoes, hail and other phenomenon and discuss the dangers they pose. McLaughlin served as central Iowa’s weather expert for over 30 years. Mike McLaughlin, CEO of New Way Ford’s parent company, McLaughlin Family Companies, and brother to John, says weather always had a special place in his family growing up.
New Way Ford is taking an even further interest in weather as they are developing a new app that McLaughlin says will provide some very unique features.
They will also be displaying the New Way Ford storm chaser vehicle during the event. The program begins at 10 a.m. and concludes at 2 p.m.
