A nurse anesthetist at Manning Regional Healthcare Center (MRHC) is accused of illegally obtaining and misusing a powerful pain killing medication. David Michael Anderson, a 51-year-old Boone resident, allegedly stole the medication, Fentanyl, from the facility beginning December 14 to March 8 based on a criminal complaint filed by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit in Des Moines. MRHC immediately ended its contract with Anderson upon becoming aware of his actions and have arranged a replacement as to not interfere with patient scheduling and care. If these claims are found to be true, Anderson faces up to 10 years in prison and fines as large as $10,000.
