Carroll Woman Sustains Possible Serious Injuries In Rear-End Collision Wednesday

A rear-end collision on Wednesday morning sent a Carroll woman to the hospital with possible serious injuries. The Carroll County Sheriff’s office responded to the scene on Highway 30 near Hawthorne Ave. west of Carroll at approximately 7:55 a.m. to find a 2013 Toyota RAV4, driven by 85-year-old Helen Jane Hannasch, was westbound on Highway 30, stopped and signaling for a left-hand turn. A 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, being driven by 35-year-old Brandon Christopher Ranniger of Manning, was also westbound on Highway 30, but he failed to see the stopped Toyota in time, and rear-ended the vehicle. Hannasch was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of injuries. Ranniger complained of possible injuries but was not transported for treatment. There was an estimated $10,000 in damage to the Hannasch vehicle and $6,500 to the Ranniger truck. Ranniger was cited for failure to maintain control.
