Sac County Conservation Again Offers Chance To Taste Nature’s Cuisine

The Sac County Conservation Board (SCCB) is once again offering the public a chance to let their taste buds experience the flavors of nature. The board offered some brave souls the chance to eat insects last month, but their upcoming program is a bit closer to the norm. On Sunday, May 7, an afternoon session is being offered at the Sac County Conservation Center in Hagge Park near Sac City to teach people how to identify and safely cook wild edibles. Beginning at 1 p.m., attendees will have a seminar to learn what all the safe plants look like.  A hike shortly after allows participants to search for ingredients in a realistic setting. When they return, the materials will be prepared to cook, and people willing to do so will have a chance to sample the cuisine. The program is free of charge, but registration for the event is required by calling the SCCB Office at 712-662-4530.
