A building’s interior in downtown Glidden is exposed to the elements after nearly one-fourth of its northern wall was torn down. Citizens in town were surprised Thursday morning by a large pile of bricks next to a J. Schon Construction storage facility at 117 North Idaho Street. According to a foreman at the scene, the aging brick wall was beginning to lose structural integrity, and the owners decided the best option was to completely remove the section in question. Skid loaders and other heavy equipment were on-hand working in the area. As precaution, the City of Glidden has closed the adjacent Glidden Wellness Center until further notice while workers and equipment finish work on the repairs.
