The Sears Hometown Store on Heires Avenue in Carroll is in the process of being purchased by a new owner with Sunday, May 28 being the official transition date. Dan Gold, the current owner, has operated the store since 2004 and began looking for a potential buyer after he reached retirement age. A former employee, Vanessa Summers, approached Gold and was interested in maintaining the outlet. Summers says even when she formally owns the store, customers will not see a major change.

The store just finished a transition to the America’s Appliance Experts (AAE) designation. Summers says this just means a changed floor plan with new products and an enriched shopping experience for their customers.

She added Sears Hometown Stores are individually owned and operated and are in no way related or affected by the similarly named Sears Holding Corporation. Gold says he could not be leaving the store in more capable hands and thanked his customers for their support over the last 13 years.

Summers’ first major event as owner is less than a month away on June 16 and 17 with their AAE Designation Celebration. Customers can check into the store’s new layout and enjoy a special customer appreciation discount.
