The Jefferson Police department is investigating a car/bicycle accident that occurred at approximately 1:26 p.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported in the incident at the intersection of Elm and Washington Streets. Ben Robbins of Jefferson was crossing Elm Street when he ran his bicycle into the side of a passing 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, operated by Linda Smith of Jefferson. There was a reported $1,000 in damages to the right rear door and fender of the Jeep and the bicycle had a reported $200 in damage, mainly to the front tire. A citation for failure to obey a stop sign is pending for Robbins.
