A Grimes man is facing charges of child endangerment after being arrested during a traffic stop Saturday in Carroll County. Sheriff Ken Pingrey reports that at approximately 9:23 p.m., a deputy saw a 2002 GMC Denali driving erratically eastbound on Highway 141 near Coon Rapids. Thirty-six-year-old Matthew Lynn Weitl was pulled over and arrested for operating while intoxicated (OWI), first offense, with a blood alcohol content (BAC) double the legal limit at .193. Weitl had an 11 year old and a seven year old as passengers in his vehicle. He was booked into the Carroll County jail on the OWI charge and child endangerment charges are pending.
