The Catholic School Foundation of the Diocese of Sioux City has announced that Jody and Gina Sitzmann of Sioux City will be the 2017 Chair Couple for the 21st annual Bishop’s Dinner for Catholic Schools. The school systems biggest fundraiser will be held Sunday, Oct. 1 at the Sioux City Convention Center. The Sitzmanns have been married for 34 years and are both graduates of Briar Cliff College, where they met. The couple has three children: Benjamin and his spouse Jill; Adam and his spouse Megan; and Sarah and her spouse Nate, and two grandchildren. All three of their children attended Blessed Sacrament grade school and graduated from Bishop Heelan. Gina is vice president of wealth management with Security National Bank in Sioux City and Jody is a self-employed farmer near Kingsley. They are active members of the Blessed Sacrament parish where Jody is a lector and Gina is a parish director and Eucharistic minister. They served as chairs for the 2012 Bishop Heelan Auction. “We are excited to help recognize our outstanding teachers, staff and administrators who work tirelessly each day providing a quality education while creating an atmosphere for our children to learn the values of empathy, respect and gratitude, all within the context of our Catholic faith,” the Sitzmanns said. Creighton men’s basketball coach, Greg McDermott will be the keynote speaker for the October dinner. Last year’s event raised nearly $200,000, with 100 percent of the proceeds going back to the 16 Catholic schools in the Diocese, including the Kuemper Catholic School System. Tickets for the dinner will go on sale Monday, Aug. 14. More information can be found through the link included with this story on our website.
