Another driver led law enforcement on a chase Monday afternoon, this time through residential areas. At approximately 3:19 p.m. a Jefferson Police officer spotted a 2002 Infinity I35 in the 900 block of North Elm Street. The officer was aware that the driver, 44-year-old Ryan Brown, had his driving privileges barred in the state of Iowa. He attempted to stop Brown, who fled at a high rate of speed, turning westbound on West Head Street. A short pursuit followed with speeds in excess of 50 miles per hour in a posted 25 mile-per-hour zone. The chase ended at Brown’s residence, 1006 North Walnut Street, where the officer learned that his six-year-old son was in the car during the incident. Brown was placed under arrest and charged with driving while license barred, child endangerment and eluding, all aggravated misdemeanors, as well as failure to give a continuous turn signal and unsafe turn with failure to give signal, both scheduled violations.
