The Albert Kruger Sr. Shelter House in Glidden is in its final days of construction, and the city is only waiting on the closing of a punch list for work to be considered complete. On Monday, the city council considered a certificate of substantial completion from Badding Construction. Only minor touch-ups and cosmetic finishes remain to be checked off. Once those are done, the city will approve the completion and be able to make its final payment of just under $58,000. The shelter house will host its first event on June 25 where the Peace Lutheran Church will hold services and a special dedication for the building’s namesake whose donation made the project possible. Before the next Glidden City Council meeting on Monday, June 26, a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. in the Aquatic Center Park.
