Manning City Council Opts To Retain Ordinance Banning Fireworks Use

The City Council of Manning held a meeting earlier this week and took up the conversation on fireworks sales and use within the city limits. Like many other communities in our area, the council is opting to leave their current ordinance in place. City Administrator, Dawn Rohe, says that use of first and second-class fireworks within the city limits has always been banned and the council wants to keep it that way. She adds that a community business person has also voiced concerns over the use of Chinese floating lanterns and that the council is looking to ordinances in other cities for the regulation of their use. As for sales, the city council has provided some guidelines for Rohe, who will be developing a new ordinance. The first draft of that will be reviewed at their next meeting in July.
