Two Events In Manning This Sunday

As always, there is plenty to do in the community of Manning this weekend, with a dramatic performance and tractor ride through the scenic countryside, both planned for Sunday. There is no better way to start a beautiful summer day than by joining friends at the 15th annual Manning Tractor Ride. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the American Legion Hall and the ride to Irwin and back will get underway at 9 a.m. Upon their return, everyone is invited to stay for a free-will offering lunch that will begin at 11:30 a.m. Contact details for more information on the ride are included below. As a part of the German Immigration display, “German Iowa and the Global Midwest,” at the Manning Hausbarn Heritage Park, the production “Here, I’m Hank” will be performed from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the park. This two-person play follows a mother and son who are navigating the social, political and emotional costs of emigrating from Germany to Iowa in the 1860s. The 35-minute production is fact based and includes songs that were integral to the experience. There is no charge for the play, but they are asking for a free-will donation for the dessert bar following the performance.
