Farmers are committed to learning more about nutrient management, tillage strategies and cover-crop adoption in the ongoing efforts for soil and water health. In Carroll County, June 20 was designated Soil Health Day in a special proclamation by the Carroll County Board of Supervisors, and other organizations are hosting special events to promote Soil Health Partnerships. This initiative of the National and Iowa Corn Growers Associations is working to quantify to producers the benefits that support productive and sustainable agriculture, benefiting everyone from an environmental and economic standpoint. “Protecting and improving soil is one of the best opportunities for increased yield potential and water quality, erosion control and carbon mitigation,” says Nick Goeser, director of the Soil Health Partnership and National Corn Growers Association director of soil health and sustainability. On July 13, there will be a Carter Soil Health Roundtable in Audubon and on July 26, Lake City will host a Dial Soil Health Round Table. More information and links to register for these Soil Health Partnership events can be found below.
