The initial hearing for a Carroll man accused of physically beating another man has been schedule for later this month. The suspect, 30-year-old Matthew Cody Johnston, has been charged with willful injury causing bodily injury, a class D felony, after reportedly striking and kicking an individual multiple times while the victim was on the ground. The incident took place at approximately 4 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, June 25. Video evidence shows Johnston walk away during the attack, then return to beat the victim a second time. Johnston was arrested and is scheduled to make an initial appearance before a Carroll County Magistrate on Tuesday, July 25.
