Reports Coming In That Carroll Man Was One Of Four Rescued From Capsized Boat In Yacht Race

Carroll Broadcasting has received a report that a Carroll resident was part of a four-person sailing team that was rescued Sunday shortly after 1 a.m. on Lake Michigan. According to the Coast Guard News, the four were competing in the Annual Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac and were about 30 miles east of Fox Point, Wisc. when their boat capsized. They were all found on the hull of the ship by good Samaritans who were unable to render assistance. The Coast Guard Cutter, Biscayne Bay, was in the area and was dispatched to the scene along with a Coast Guard Air Facility Waukegan MH-65 helicopter. All four were successfully rescued and did not suffer any major injuries, but only two of the four were wearing life jackets. One other person was rescued in the race at a little after midnight when they fell overboard from their yacht. They were uninjured and picked up by a good Samaritan after being in the water for about an hour. Carroll Broadcasting has reached out to the Carroll resident involved in the incident and will bring you more as details become available.
