High school football season is only a few weeks away and the Audubon Wheelers are kicking off their season with a pair of tailgates. The Audubon Lions Club tailgate will take place the Friday before the season starts at Wheeler Stadium on Aug. 18. Football fans can enjoy pork sandwiches, chips and drinks for $5 per meal. Snow cones will also be available for only $1 apiece. The following week, the Wheelers play their first game at home against the Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton Spartans on Friday, Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. Before the game, 200 pork burgers and 100 hot dogs will be available from the Audubon County Farm Bureau for hungry fans from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. at the stadium. A free will donation for the food is optional, and money raised from the tailgates goes back to benefit the Audubon Sports Boosters.
