Probably the most notable change for the upcoming school year at IKM-Manning Community Schools is the new face at the helm of the district. Trevor Miller took over as superintendent in July after Dr. Tom Ward accepted a position in Danville in May of this year. Miller will be sharing time between IKM-Manning and Exira Elk Horn Kimballton (EHK).

Miller brings about 19 years of educational experience with him to IKM-Manning, and has served as superintendent for Exira-Elk Horn Kimballton for one year. He says the board and the administration have identified goals for the upcoming year, putting the focus on communication and collaboration, in a variety of different ways.

Miller says they are excited about the different opportunities kids will be exposed to by partnering with community members to develop products and/or business plans, their ability to work hands-on even more with robotics and technology and in developing websites and so much more. Physical locations of the classrooms remains the same for this year with Irwin housing the pre-kindergarten through third grade. Manning also has a pre-kindergarten and then fourth through 12th grade. Though there weren’t any physical changes to report, Miller says he is not the only new face students and staff members will see in the hallways this fall.
