After nearly five months of preparation, Lake City’s first Christian music festival, PrayerFest 2K17, is ready to get underway on Saturday. Festival Director, 14-year-old Dausin Olberding, of Lake City, starting working on the project in April with a goal to raise nearly $7,000 to make the event happen. He says he is about $500 short of his goal, but he is still pleased with the support PrayerFest has seen.

That money goes to paying for musical acts, speakers and the equipment needed to put on a show. The festival lineup is finalized with Dave Owens, J. Crum, Stephen Witt and Attaboy providing the musical entertainment. Olberding needed to schedule all the acts, find a location to host the event, look for volunteers and much more. He says it has been a lot of work.

Festivalgoers will be able to purchase merchandise from the vendors at PrayerFest along with concessions. Many area churches will have representatives on hand to promote church activities and mission trips they hold every year. Doors open at 1 p.m. on Aug. 19 at the square in Lake City. Tickets are available for a free-will donation. The event gets started at 2 p.m. Olberding says he will consider the festival a success if even just one person is impacted.

The event is non-denominational and people of all faiths are welcome to attend. Olberding is still looking for individuals willing to help out or donate. To volunteer, visit the PrayerFest 2K17 website by following the link included below this story or contact Olberding at 712-210-1352.
