The Lake City City Council has approved a recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Committee to reclassify 5.5 acres of agricultural land for business use. The property sits just north of Highway 175 across from the Macke Motors dealership. A sheep barn and acreage occupy the southern half of the space now, but Macke Motors intends to expand with new lots and buildings in the future. Tony Macke, a member of the sales department, says they have outgrown their current space.
Macke Motors purchased the property about six months ago and initiated the process to have it rezoned soon after. The plans are not yet set in stone, but Macke says some work is already underway.
Depending on how the project turns out, Macke Motors could be adding up to five new staff members to their team. The northern portion of the plot will remain classified as an agricultural zone.
