The latest Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau sTEP (Special Traffic Enforcement Program) initiative was held for two weeks, ending at the conclusion of the Labor Day holiday. Results for several area law enforcement agencies have now come in, and the numbers were high, mainly due to the longer timeframe for this particular enforcement. The Carroll Police Department recorded 159 citations were issued along with 202 warnings. They investigated 10 different accidents, provided one motorist assist and served seven warrants. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office investigated two property damage and five personal injury accidents over that two week period, issued 251 citations and 285 warnings, served 2 arrest warrants, made one felony and one narcotics arrest and assisted two motorists. The Jefferson Police Department investigated two accidents, served two warrants and issued 23 citations and 150 warnings. A breakdown of all the numbers can be found below.
