Registration is now open for people in need of a helping hand to sign up for the 2017 Kuemper service day. Every high school student and staff member is involved in the effort in some way. Participants are split into groups of about six people and sent off to complete their projects. Sophomores, Halle Simons and Kara Peter, experienced their first service day last year.
Students are willing and able to do almost any kind of work except for tasks that could be considered dangerous, such as cleaning gutters. They can also travel to some of the communities near Carroll to help residents there. Kuemper needs about 50 adult chaperones to make service day happen. Junior, Courtney Schenkelberg, says signing up to have a project completed or to volunteer is easy.
Schenkelberg adds you can still register after that date, but there is no guarantee it will make the list. They will do their best to get as many projects as possible done. Service day is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 31. Contact information can be found included below.
