A Good Samaritan caller notified the Jefferson Police Department at approximately 9:29 p.m. Tuesday of an altercation taking place near a vehicle on the northwest side of town, along Highway 30. The caller said they saw a couple struggling near the car. Upon their arrival, an officer witnessed 24-year-old Damien Michael Schering of Scranton attempt to push a female into the parked vehicle. An initial investigation was conducted, and Schering was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated, first offense, a serious misdemeanor, and domestic abuse assault, second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor.
