The Audubon FFA has been selected as one of Landus Cooperative’s Core Grant recipients. The $750 donation to the chapter will be used to fund their Living to Serve Project taking place in Haiti next summer. During the project, several members will travel to the country to help teach residents there how to use agricultural equipment and work with Sukup Manufacturing to build homes near Port-au-Prince, the nation’s capital. The students will also teaching how to raise small farm plots and gardens and encourage animal production, waste management, market training, food safety and healthcare. The will also be spending time in local orphanages to make connections and help those in need. Other area chapters who received the grant include Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center, Carroll, Coon Rapids-Bayard, East Sac County, Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton, Glidden-Ralston, IKM-Manning and South Central Calhoun. Landus announced the Core Grant Program early this year to support local organizations who focus on topics such as rural youth, emergency and rescue agencies and agricultural advancement.
