More than 300 Kuemper High School students, faculty and chaperones could be seen across the Carroll-area Tuesday during Kuemper’s Annual Service Day. Two Kuemper sophomores, Bethany Schleisman and Madison Leonard, were in a group of other girls who were helping rake up leaves. They say students look forward to getting out into the community and helping. Words of thanks are all the motivation they need.
The girls added the brisk autumn weather kept many people indoors while they were out. Students primarily raked up leaves, but other groups washed windows, moved furniture and one group helped build a waste trench at the Animal Rescue of Carroll facility. Nicole Martin, a Kuemper student council adviser, says it is important for student to see the impact they can have on the community.
More than 120 service projects were completed in slightly more than two hours. This is the 15th year Kuemper has stepped up and out into the community and they have no intention for this to be their final year.
