Eleven Year Old Honored For Organizing Black Hawk Lake Fishing Tournament

Eleven-year-old Tate Lahr of Lake View made news around the state this past May when he organized a return of the annual fishing tournament that was halted in 2012. The fifth-grader from East Sac County Community Schools made the first annual Reel Fun Fishing Tournament at Black Hawk Lake a huge success, raising money that then went right back into his life-long love of the sport in his hometown. At this year’s “Progress as Promised” celebration, Tate was recognized for his hard work and presented with the New Event of the Year award. Other award winners included Marcia Haakenson for the Service to Your Community award and Jim Stock for the Hometown Pride award. A full listing of other winners can be found below.
