Four juvenile males have been arrested by the Storm Lake Police Department and charged in a rash of burglaries and vandalism that started in July. A three-month investigation has led to the arrests for their alleged involvement in burglaries at the Field of Dreams concession stand, at the Storm Lake High School stadium, at a parks department building and a storage shed at Memorial Ball Field. They are also alleged to have done damage to trees at various parks and a wooden sculpture at Sunset Park. On Thursday, Nov. 2, all four juveniles were taken into custody. A 17-year-old male from Storm Lake has been charged with seven counts of third-degree burglary, a class D felony, two counts of third-degree attempted burglary, an aggravated misdemeanor, and second-degree criminal mischief, a class D felony. Another 17-year-old Storm Lake male has been charged with seven counts of third-degree burglary and two counts of third-degree attempted burglary. The other two are 16-year-old males and both are from Storm Lake. One has been charged with five counts of third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief while the second is charged with three counts of third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief. All four were processed and transported to the Youth Detention Facility in Cherokee pending a court date. The investigation into these incidents continues and additional arrests are anticipated.
