Publisher’s Clearing House has been advertising heavily for their next prize, and scammers are apparently taking advantage of that to try to trick people into parting with their hard-earned cash. Recently, area law enforcement were notified that a woman had received a call from someone claiming to be with Publisher’s Clearing House. They told her she was the winner of $1 million and a brand new vehicle. All she had to do to claim her prize was wire them $400 from her local Walmart store. Luckily, the woman recognized this was a scam and did not incur any loss. But this is a lesson to others to be wary. If you are asked to pay for a prize, it is not legitimate. Just hang up and notify your local authorities about the scam attempt.
