There is a brand new charitable service organization in Manning. One of the organizers, Shelli Lorenzen, says the new 501(c)(3) called Chicks with Checks will be a fun and easy way to generate a large sum of money for area charitable causes.
Lorenzen says this will have a big impact on Manning projects. The group is working on scheduling their first meeting.
She adds this is both a way for area women to give back and to socialize. The idea originated in Earlham and then expanded to Corning. As far as organizers know, Manning is the third Iowa community to form the group. Anyone interested in more information can contact Shelli Lorenzen at 712-655-2072.
