A Carroll man was arrested in Manning last weekend for stealing a pickup truck from a residence in Crawford County. At approximately 4:10 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, the Manning Police Department responded to 228 1st St. and found 39-year-old Benjamin David Bess in possession of a Ford F-150 believed to be stolen. According to police, Bess admitted he had taken the truck. He was arrested and charged with second degree theft, a class D felony. A court appearance is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 21 at the Carroll County Courthouse. If found guilty of the charge, Bess faces up to five years imprisonment and a maximum fine of $7,500.
